With 16 players available, Chinnor travelled to Marlow in the cold and the drizzle.
Chinnor started well with the ball in hand. Their shape was good and the ball was distributed well and secured at every ruck. A foray into the opposition's 22 unfortunately came to nothing. Both teams traded possession for ten minutes, before the amalgamated opposition kicked in to gear and started to assert themselves.
Chinnor struggled to stop the opposition's strong ball carriers, all of whom were taller and stronger. Quite a daunting feat to stop them if you haven't closed the gap and they have built up a head of steam! That said, there were some excellent tackles and there was no doubting the work rate and the intent.
Chinnor secured their own rucks well, but were less successful in counter-rucking. With ball in hand, Chinnor made some fantastic carries as well as trying to vary their tactics with a couple of kicks that they chased down. A number of interchanges were made, particularly in the back three, and the players adjusted quickly.
In summary, Chinnor were beaten by a stronger team, despite playing well. They were unlucky not to get onto the scoreboard.
