The reigning BBO champions kept their unbeaten record intact in a two try to nil away victory over Newbury Colts.
A strong scrum and an effective lineout meant that possession was shared equally. Newbury started well and ran phase after phase but they could not breach Chinnor's defence. The breakdown was untidy at first and this cost Chinnor possession, territory and points, leaving Chinnor behind on the scoreboard with a penalty kick giving Newbury a 3 point lead. After absorbing pressure for the opening fifteen minutes, Chinnor's backs unleashed Tom Davies who glided on to the end of a series of pinpoint passes to bullock over in the corner, edging Chinnor in front by 3 - 5 at the end of the first half.
From the beginning of the second half Chinnor set out to impose their game on Newbury. Newbury fought back with increasing desperation and the last ten minutes in particular went from end to end with Newbury edging ahead 6 -5 with a further penalty goal. However, Chinnor established an air of dominance and the team's hard work was rewarded when Will Millett nailed a try, running a hard inside line off more good work from the forwards. The conversion made the final score 6 - 12.
Overall, the backs took their chances superbly but the win stemmed from a magnificent team performance.
