With less than 24 hours notice, Chinnor Colts 'B's were scrabbling for a fixture, having been let down by fellow OBB league division 3 rivals Sough / Phoenix. Fortunately for the team, High Wycombe had also had a fixture cancelled and so stepped into the breach. The change of venue and an earlier start, gave Chinnor one or two headaches. This, coupled with a number of injuries from school matches, meant that only 12 players were on parade.
With no let up from the rain, Chinnor worked hard conceded only two tries in the first half and two and a drop goal in the second. When two of Chinnor's front row went off injured, the hosts lent players and the game continued. The team worked well, despite a number of gaps and loan players and were rewarded when Alfie C, playing at 10 went over to score for Chinnor.
The players new it was going to be tough, with High Wycombe playing in division 2, but aquitted themselves well. Thanks go to High Wycombe for being accommodating the fixture and being great hosts. Despite the loss at today's friendly, the 'B' team have earnt their first league points (for the walkover). Their next league match is on 10th November at home to Newbury 'B'.
