A sunny day welcomed Chinnor colts to Grove RFC for our first ever 7's tournament and what a day it was to become. With both teams in hard groups we didn't now what to expect from the other teams that were there.
First off Chinnor Black and Whites
Very heavy forward dominated but with the way we have trained this pre-season with emphasise on quick ball away from the breakdown that was not going to be an excuse as these boys were recycling well playing good 7's from the start.

Group Stage
This put us in the plate competition with a semi final against Henley B's which we won with some great play 17-5 this set us up for a final against Bracknell A's and this however was a game to far with us losing 45-14 but not without the boys putting everything into it.
A special mention has to go to George Hanley who caught and scored from a restart for which I and the other supporters could only stand and applaud. Also Brad Harewood's attempy at a conversion we will have to get H to help you out there I think!!!!
Also we must mention a speedy recovery for Callum Ware and Meli from their injuries I hope to see them back in action soon.
Squad Harewood, Whitfield, Ware, Summersbee, Alexander, White, Gillett, Forrest, Greg, Flemming and Meli
Chinnor Yellows
With captain James Cook leading his troops and gas to burn all over the team it was hard to see anyone beating the lads and that if course this didn't happen. Great 7's rugby again played from the start and every team didn't have an answer for all their decision making and know how when attacking with all games being won by 20 or more points.

Group Stage
Chinnor Yellows 31 Grove RFC 5
Henley B's 7 Chinnor Yellows 45
Bracknell A's 7 Chinnor Yellows 33
Chinnor Yellows 47 Abingdon 7
This put them top of the group and a cup semi final against Reading Abbey who the B&W's had so nearly beat in their group stage they soon dispatched them 35-0 with some brilliant work from all involved to say some of the rugby today that was played was breath-taking would be an understatement and Chinnor RFC should be please at what the club is producing.
This set up a final with the old enemy Henley A's and this was a very one sided affair with the Yellow sweeping aside their opponents 45-0 we think with brilliant flowing 7's rugby played as well as a few flashy moments thrown in.
Squad Cook, Tolley, Hutt, Coldicutt, Jonchu, McMinn, Prosser, McDonald, Pearce, Clayton and Sherlock.
Apologies I did not get everyone's try stats but to be fair there were too many on both sides I couldn't keep up.
A massive thank you to all the parents who came along today it was a long day with a few delays due to injuries but the lads made sure it was worth the wait.
So first competition and we have won the Cup and finished runners up in the plate, we as a coaching team are delighted with this. And even though it is 7's this has shown to all the local clubs and those afar we mean business this season and with the players that are available to us coaches, I know we are going to have a great season ahead of us. I hope the guys can get more support up to watch their games on a Sunday afternoon. You will not be disappointed.
