Rob Hill29 Mar 2015 - 18:53

U17's march on to the South u17's final on the 19th April.

Chinnor U17 South West Champions.

Match report courtesy of Hywel Evans

Chinnor kick off with the fierce behind them. The game plan is to get the points on the board and defend whatever advantage we have, which the lads execute to perfection.

The game is equally fought in the early stages of the match. Chinnor score first. A huge territory kick from Max McMinn from his 22 into the opposition 22. Amersham line out is over thrown and good pressure by Chinnor forwards results in 5 metre scrum. James Cook picks up at the base of scrum, moves over the gain line, off loads to Scott Hall to score with Charlie Nicholls converting. 7-0.
Chinnor are now mounting pressure and gaining huge territorial advantage and increase their lead on 29 minutes. A solid scrum in midfield the ball is passed to Max McMinn, he splits the Amersham defence with a good line break with Cam Hill supporting to touch down and another conversion slotted. 14-0.
A penalty slotted just before half time by Charlie Nicholls extends the lead to 17-0.

The whole team are now expecting a second half onslaught to start from Amersham, as the unrelenting wind is in their faces. The Chinnor defence throughout was exceptional from 1-22, with the forwards taking responsibility to take the ball up the pitch.

Chinnor finally added to the score on 62 mins. Josh Preston on a crash ball scores by the side of posts to extend the lead further, with Charlie converting again. 24-0.

The confidence of the team is starting to show. We are playing exceptional rugby in the conditions and Chinnor are rewarded again with another try by Brad Harewood who from a good angled run breaks 2 tackles to score and again Charlie converts to maintain his 100% kick accuracy.
A mention to Chiltern and Amersham who played to the end in the spirit of the game and on another day may have scored themselves.

Finally to the team, a fantastic result which you should be proud to have achieved, This result has put Chinnor on the map in South west area. Let's finish it off now and perform to our ability in the next two final appearances. You have the ability to gain national exposure. Good luck.

We also are wishing a speedy recovery to Malik who dislocated his shoulder. Thanks also to David Aston who took him to the local A&E.
