It what can only be described as a lesson in Touch Rugby the Army retained their unbeaten record against the CRFC U15's.
Playing full pitch the Army repeatedly drove the U15 defence backwards showing a skillset only Eddie the Aussie can dream of. The young bucks had to rely on a few intercepts to keep them in the game and even then had to work hard to break the cover defence of Mums on the run Sue and Anna Belle.
Stu the Mac ran the tram lines all day, calling the shots from deep.
James part of the Forest rugby dynasty proudly watches as Mum and Son played on opposite wings with only Nicola skipping over for a lovely worked forrest try.
Twinkle toes Turnbull (not be be confused with Rupert) came up against the Timeless machine Mike and was clearly bamboozled by Mikes defensive effort, shelling an almost certain try as Mike did a back flip to put Archie completely off his A game. So much for the drift defence.
Army had some big ball carriers with Big Smith taking the ball to ground a few times with Beadon and Allen on shoulder support. Quick clearance (and a few offside penalties) saw the ball moved wide and jinks and kinks and swerves and steps to open up the tightest of defences.
The Nick, Neil and Duncan show had a few lovely interchanges repeatedly switching play and moving the now tired U15 defence as they opened up holes for Lofty and Chapman to glide through for some lovely worked tries.
Tom made Sparkes up the park as he ran rings around the boys, while Smithy managed to over take and under take a few of the boys as he weaved his magic.
Its a shame the Lions are picked, clearly some talent was overlooked.
Until next year...
