Abingdon – Plate Semi Final
Abingdon proved to be a very good side, whilst all 4 of the tries they scored in the first half were by their number 12, the rest of the Abingdon team played their part.
We were 0-19 down very quickly, slowly we started making tackles and moving the ball around. We went in at half time 0-26.
It wasn’t looking good when Abingdon scored first after the break, but, our heads never went down and the substitutions added some fresh legs to the team.
Following continued pressure in the Abingdon 22, Dean Collins went over to score our first points of the day. This was followed by a try scored by our own “Billy Whizz†Toby Bojarski.
We had the majority of the ball in the second half and had other opportunities but failed to score any more points.
Final score 12-31.
This second half performance would not have happened in the past, the Chinnor team never gave this match up. If we had started like this we may have caused a few concerns in the Abingdon team.
The coaching team are proud of the attitude shown today, well done all players.
I do want to mention two people, Charlie Williams (Full Back), fantastic tackling and attacking play and Dean Collins (Hooker), always the first player to the breakdowns, non stop tackling and excellent lineout play (not to mention the try scored).
