An early start for the U13’s players, parents and grandparents, all travelling over to wonderful hosts Beaconsfield for our first away fixture of the season. With a handful of lads on holiday a tight squad of 19 players received their Chinnor match shirts and warmed up ready for two thirty minute matches, maximising game time for all players on both sides.
A relative slow start saw both sides trading blows and coming up short on a number of occasions due to good defence or a handling error as the dew slowly burnt off the lush pitches.
Chinnor gradually settled down and worked their way up into Beaconsfield territory. This was no mean achievement as these boys are now playing on pitches only 10m short of the seniors.
A few surging runs and good handling allowed Chinnor to take the lead. Players were rotated after each break but the continuity remained despite the coaches changing playing positions randomly. Six tries were scored by the end of the first match and four in the second with none conceded. Regardless, Beaconsfield continued to fight hard and heads stayed up which was credit to the players and coaches.
Players, coaches and the referee all shock hands at the final whistle and headed in for post match food, hosted by the convivial coaching group.
Big thank you to our amazing travelling support.
Training next Sunday.
Next game Olney RFC in two weeks.
