The U13 squad travelled away to a warm and sunny Wallingford and displayed the kind of spirit and togetherness that helped them succeed last season.
A Chinnor side, plus a combined Barbarians side, played a triangular match format with Wallingford that produced some great rugby, and, with many new players both sets of Chinnor boys gelled well and should be very proud of their performances. The Barbarians particularly fought hard and displayed real teamwork playing with the opposition players for the first time. Despite this they fought hard together and scored a couple of tries, narrowly losing both games.
The all Chinnor side worked tirelessly at the breakdown and with some strict but fair officiating they spent much of their time in the first match back pedalling. Once these lessons were learnt they produced some wonderful moves and scored the tries to see off a resilient Wallingford side.
Overall some good performances and congratulations to all the new lads (and parents) for their effort and support.
Off to the Banbury 15-a-side festival next weekend.
