A fantastic team effort from a Chinnor team with no replacements, sees them beat a determined Beaconsfield 19-10. Every member of the team gave everything on the pitch and they worked as a team for this result.
In the first half it looks as though our constant pressure, as a result of great work at the breakdown, would go unrewarded until Charlie Mc broke through their defence for our first score.
Beaconsfield scored 2 tries (one as a result of us switching off at a penalty), however 2 further tries by Charlie Mc secured the win.
Excellent carries in both halves from Liam, Joe L (especially before setting up our last try), Jacob and Jude made for an exciting game. Our forwards including Sam A, Harry M and Ethan showed their power in the scrum and were constantly pressurising the opposition and turning over the ball. Tackling was of the highest order by all the players and the breakdown controlled well by Charlie M-S
Without the aid of a kicking tee, Rory G took our conversions as drop kicks. Having missed the first one which was near the touch line and scoring the second in the middle of the post, Rory took our final conversion from the left touch line, going up hill. In a "Francois Steyn"-esque moment of genius, he scored with a monster drop kick to take us to 19.
Beaconsfield had a nasty injury with one of their lads suffering a broken collar bone and we wish him a speedy recovery.
The game was played in excellent spirit by both sides and we look forward to welcoming Beaconsfield to us in the near future.
Man of the match (decided by the players at the end) was Jake who kept the Beaconsfield attack at bay with superb tackling until he succumbed to an injury in the second half performing another great tackle.
