The theme of today’s match was teamwork. In the first half much could be said about Finn and Matthew’s crunching tackles and the tries by Charlie K, Tom B and Jack E, (two of which were converted by Harry) but everyone had a hand in each little victory. At the start of the second half, Chinnor relaxed a little bit too much allowing Beaconsfield to capitalise on silly little mistakes and sneak in a couple of tries which brought the score to 19-10. More brilliant tackling from Cameron “Muncher” Matthews and Finn “Juggernaut” Tapping as well as a lovely intercept from Jack “Octopus” Ellis and Beaconsfield started looking apprehensive again. A spectacular full-pitch run saw Jack E touch the ball down just under the posts, masterfully converted by Harry. Despite Chinnor’s disappointing performance in the line-out, they managed to regain the ball and get it down the line to Callum who was forced to cut inside and throw a wild pass heroically recovered by Jack G. Renewed pressure from Beaconsfield didn’t stop slippery Harry “Eel” Lowe ducking under the unusually tall opposition to get the ball back into safe play. Finn kept tackling, Jack G kept ripping and #10 (sorry – couldn’t see who it was over on the other side of the pitch) barged the opposition off the ball with surprising finesse, allowing Chinnor to retain possession. In the dying seconds of the match Beaconsfield regained the ball and attempted a desperate last-minute kick, but quick thinking Finn helped the ball along into touch as the final whistle blew. Score 26-10.
