Chinnor 15 v Oxford Quins 20

On a bright sunny morning and despite a jittery start and playing up the hill in the first half, Chinnor took the fight to Quins and worked hard and scored 3 tries in the first half and looked the stronger team.

With the score tied at 3 tries all and with the slope in their favour and the sun in Quins eyes, Chinnor started the half as favorites but as hard as they tried they couldn't break Quins down. Despite all their hard work in the first half Chinnor paid heavily for their lapses in concentration with Quins quick thinking saw them score two tries from tap penalties to level the score.

Quins started to believe a win was possible and turned the tables by working hard at the breakdown and kept Chinnor on the back foot with some great kicks. With ten minutes to go Quins took got the lead with a well worked try. Chinnor pushed hard but just couldn't get the score they needed to level the match.

Both sides should be proud of the way they played but Chinnor will have to learn to concentrate and play for the full match if they are to win these tight matches.

Although there were some glum faces after the match a meal of sausage and chips and the thought of taking revenge against Quins in the up and coming cup match had the boys smiling and looking forward to their next outing.
