Wildboys win again

In the week that the famous theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking passed away the Wildboys were hoping that they wouldn’t be sucked into a black hole away, at the always tough, Redingensians ground.
The boys were already £20 lighter when they arrived as they decided to hire a bus for the journey, hoping for a banterful journey on the return to the Wildboys den. The matching kit they were all wearing had also been purchased at the start of the season from each of the players and without a physio or coach, in which they have not had for 4 years, they were hoping the wild way would prevail.

As Rick the bus driver looked on, the eager Redingensians side kick off. The Wildboys collected the high ball, and we were off. Harry Hillier was in at 10 this week, with the returning Rob Nichols in at 12 and the loyal Jayson Abbott outside of him.
This gave young Harry Lowe another go in at 9.
Within no time the Wildboys were attacking hard on the opposing try line, and Sam Ludgate aka the new Adam Draper had a try disallowed. With a look of bemusement, and confusion, similarly to when you ask Tom Rackstraw about quantum mechanics, Sam had to take this on the chin and try again. Lo and behold he was rewarded. 2 minutes later he powered over for the first of the game. Harry Lowe slotted over the 2 points and the score stood at 0-7.
The next 30 mins was great rugby from both sides. Predominately Redingensians attacking, and the Wildboys having to defend. With a couple of mistakes by the Chinnor back line the Redingensians side finally got what they deserved. This was duly converted and the scores stood at 7-7. With half time nearly upon them, the Wildboys were keen to go into the 2nd half with the advantage. So some strong attack followed. A strong run by Tom Rackstraw saw him held up just before the line. Then Rob Nichols had a go trying to sell more dummy’s than The Brief History of Time, but this saw him knock the ball forward. Finally, with a some true grit and determination Sam Ludgate was again over for his 2nd and the conversion was only slightly missed making the score 7-12 at halftime.

The break saw a couple of changes made. Captain George White off for William Wild Taylor. Harry Lowe and Chris Jeffcock for Peter Way and Harry Franklin respectively. The 2nd half was a closely fought affair with a great defence play from both sides. At one point the Wildboys seemed to be over, but this was called to be held up by the referee. Shortly after the Redingensians flanker was caught boring into the side like mass-energy and was shown a yellow card for his troubles.
Finally as the game was coming to a rather nail biting finish, Harry Franklin put any worries at rest and scored a well-deserved try. Peter Way converted, finalising the points at 7-19.
Man of the match this week was awarded to two outstanding individuals; Sam Ludgate, and Thomas White for their exceptional hard work around the pitch. Mare of the Match was given to Tom Rackstraw who decided himself he didn’t want to play rugby anymore.
Next week the Wildboys have a much anticipated battle against Maidenhead. Until then, keep it wild….
