Wildboys Hunt For Their Title Hopes

Wildboys Hunt For Their Title Hopes

Richard Jarvis10 May 2017 - 11:37

Outta Nowhere

Note by author: Dear readers, apologies for the lack of match reports for the last 2 games of the Wildboys season. I was of course in attendance, as I do not miss a game, however I have recently been scouted by Warren Gatland and the team to provide the British Isles with frequent updates and match reports when they tour in Kiwi Land in the next few months. Due to the rigorous process us journalist have to go through to report on the Lions Tour I have been somewhat engaged securing my position there.
Back to the matter in hand – Saturday the 1st of April 2017 saw the Wildboys welcome Redingensians to Kingsey Road to try and secure the BBO1 title once and for all. A bonus point win would secure the title for the Wildboys, so this was all that they were concentrating on. If we were to rewind 37 years, then outta nowhere Randy Orton was born and much like his WWE Championship win in 2013 the Wildboys were hoping to RKO Redingensians to be crowned Champions.
It took only 4 minutes for the Wildboys to slam over the line, with in-form Mark Bradburn doing the honours and the welcome arrival of Sam Angell converting the further 2 points. Before long Mr William ‘Mild Bill’ Taylor was adding to the scoreboard as he trotted over for the Wildboys second. Again Mr Angell converted, and the Wildboys had their perfect start. About 15 minutes into the game it seemed apparent that the referee was a big fan of the scrum. So much so in fact the Wildboys were engaging with their 7th scrum of the game already. This somewhat slowed the game down, however when the ball finally got into some open play it found Tom White and Adam Draper 5 points apiece with Sam Angell converting with ease.
At half-time the scoreboard was looking strong in the Wildboys favour as they had already bagged their try bonus point, and it was just the win they now needed to secure victory for the entire season.
The 2nd half was littered with scrums. Gossip Girl in fact lost count on the number of scrums that had to be reset, and played out. This somewhat slowed the game down to a snail’s pace, which suited the Wildboys 9 Dan ‘hips don’t lie’ Coulon, as he was still struggling to find some shorts that fitted him.
When ball was in hand however the Wildboys managed to squeeze in some further tries, coming from Jayson Abbott, Adam Draper and the afore mentioned Coulon. Sam Angell converted the 1st of those tries but had to go off with an ouchy leg, so Rob Nichols slotted one other, and Max Wood missed the last. Within these flurry of tries, Mr Tom Jarvis found himself taking a break for 10 mins as he was shown a yellow for collapsing a maul, however this did not affect the outcome as the Wildboys won comfortably 47-0.
Man of the Match was awarded to Chris Jeffcock for a fine performance he put in.
Whilst Mare of the Match went to Tom White who felt it necessary to explain to the Wildboys his feelings towards the referee during the warm up, whilst unknown to him the referee was walking behind him.
The concluding game of the victorious season for the Wildboys will be played out on the 8th of April, where the Wildboys will want to prove they deserved the title by beating runners up Maidenhead in what will prove a thriller, until then, keep it Wild…
You know you love me
