On the 11th of February the Wildboys travelled to last season league Winners Bracknell. After losing in dramatic fashion to Amersham and Chiltern the week before, the Wildboys were looking to bounce back with again another tough fixture against a well drilled side.
The game didn't start well for Chinnor as they found themselves 2 tries with added conversions, plus a penalty kick down in the first 20 minutes of the game.
The pitch made it a scrappy affair making it look like players from both sides were running in quick sand, however before the first half ended the Wildboys ran in 2 tries plus conversions to narrow Bracknell's lead to just 3 points.
With the momentum on Chinnor's side they started the 2nd half with the upper hand putting all the pressure on Bracknell with eventually earning a try without the extras.
Sadly the game took a unexpected turn for the worse when the influential Rob Nichols had to leave the field of play with concussion and to make things even worse George Hope picked up a yellow for a dangerous tackle and also had to leave the field. During this time Bracknell ran in further tries ending the game with a 36-19 victory over the much disappointed Wildboys.
The result sees Amersham and Chiltern leapfrogging to top spot with Chinnor having a game in hand, which makes it an interesting finish to the season. Anyhow, The Wildboys welcome Thatcham at Kingsbury Road for their next fixture on the 4th of March, hopefully they can get back to winning ways.
In further news the mare of the match went to the entire Chinnor Team for not producing the goods and putting on a poor show to say the least.
Man of the March goes to Rugby.
Until next time, keep it Wild….
