On Saturday the 16th April, Chinnor Wildboys visited Oxford Halequins to play their penultimate game of the season. On this day in 1705, Queen Anne Knighted Isaac Newton for his works on the laws of motion. In 1987 on this day Michael Jordan was the second NBA player to score 3000 points in a season, which is almost as much as Adam Draper has scored this season.
The team looked strong on paper and as the game kicked off, they looked equally if not stronger in reality.
They rugbied really good and scored lots of tries.
Adam “The Rig” Draper scored 4, Robert “Show and Go” Nichols scored 2, George “Thudbutt” White scored 2 and many others contributed to the tally of 13 tries along with a mere 4 conversions between James “Peaches” Way and Harry “The Mole” Hillier (which were all drop goals after both failing to kick from the tee).
The final score was 73-7 to which the Wildboys exclaimed “hoorah” and then sang their little ditty.
Mare of the Match this week was awarded to Captain George White after receiving a yellow card and dropping three balls in a row.
Man of the match was hard fought out by Rob “Sir Topham Hatt” Nichols, George “Handsome” Hope and Will “Thumbelina” Taylor, but was eventually awarded to Wild Bill for being so flaming good.
This result sees the Wildboys with a guaranteed 2nd place finish in the league, just 2 points behind leaders Bracknell. The final fixture of the 2015/16 season sees Chinnor visit 3rd place Witney for what is sure to be a great game and a tough encounter for both.
