GEORGE Hope scored five tries as Chinnor Wildboys recorded their fifteenth win of the season with a bonus-point victory over High Wycombe.
The No 8 took his tally to nine for the campaign as our 3rd XV remain five points clear at the top of Counties 1 Southern North.
All eyes will now turn to this Saturday’s mouth-watering home clash with second-placed Marlow, with the sides kicking-off at 2pm.
Last weekend, our Wildboys made a fast start and led 10-0 after nine minutes, with Hope scoring an interception try and wing Monty Graham crossing.
Lock Sam Jones then capitalised on an overthrown lineout to crash over, before Hope and wing Ben McIntosh dived over to make it 25-0 with half an hour played.
Our third kicker of the day finally converted our sixth try, with full-back Harry Lowe adding the extras after flanker Guy Hackshaw finished off a flowing move. Hope then completed his hat-trick and Graham scored a second – Lowe converting the former – as we led 44-0 at the break.
To their credit, High Wycombe continued to play with spirit and they began the second half with their first score of the afternoon.
However, tries from centre Rob Nichols, prop Karl Crockford, flanker Phil Hanson and Hope put our Wildboys into a 68-7 lead with ten minutes to go.
The visitors then scored a well-deserved second try, but Jones and Hope crashed over late on to add to our tally.
