MONTY Graham scored a hat-trick of tries as Chinnor Wildboys continued their quest for the Counties 1 Southern North title.
The winger took his tally to 11 for the season as our 3rd XV beat Milton Keynes to maintain their five-point lead over second-placed Marlow.
Our Wildboys – who have won 17 of their 18 matches – still have a game in hand over their nearest challengers as they head into their final four matches of the season.
We made a great start to open the scoring after just two minutes. A knock on from the kick-off led to a scrum and the pressure mounted, with tighthead Sam Ludgate scoring. Scrum-half Charlie Nicholls – who scored 17 points - added the extras to make it 7-0.
This paved the way for a flurry of tries as our Wildboys led 40-0 after 24 minutes, with Graham (2), Nicholls, Harry Lowe and Tom Alexander all diving over.
Milton Keynes then took advantage of some poor defending to score a converted try as we held a 33-point advantage at the break.
In the second half, fly-half Sam Nicholls crossed twice to extend our lead to 52-17.
The home side continued to play with desire and commitment, scoring their second try of the match. However, we had the final say and Graham completed his hat-trick with five minutes to go.
Our Wildboys are back at home this weekend, taking on Reading Abbey at 2pm.
Also, a date for your diaries is Wednesday, March 22 as our 3rd XV take on Wallingford under the lights in their final home league game of the season.
