The match starts with London Cornish playing with 14 men as they couldn't field a recognised front row and all scrummages throughout were uncontested, making set pieces difficult for both teams. London Cornish to their credit start the game well and are competing evenly with the 15 men of Chinnor. On 8 minutes a penalty is awarded to Chinnor, who kick deep into the opposition 22. The line out is taken, Chinnor catch and drive a few yards, the play is spread quickly through controlled phases for Dave McKee to crash over the whitewash and Alex Cheese Stevenson to convert 7-0. Chinnor increase their score on 12 minutes, another penalty kicked into touch. The line out is well caught like a salmon by Sam Blewitt, off the top ball and is passed quickly through the hands of the backs to the opposite side of the pitch for Bali to score in the corner 12-0. Chinnor are now dominating play breaking the line time and time again and are unfortunate not to extend
the score with a superb hand off from Matty Mountford breaking through going unrewarded. On 32 minutes, Chinnor score their third try of the match. Good possession in midfield the ball is spread wide making full use of the extra player for Ryan Collins to score in the corner 17-0.
London Cornish start the second half extremely well showing great spirit and are rewarded with a breakaway from their speedy winger to score a well deserved try, 17-7. Chinnor begin to start playing again after a slow start to the second half to eventually score again on 60 minutes through Alex Waddingham from a driving maul 22-7. Chinnor are back in control and score their fifth try on 77 minutes through Harry Bomber Hillier who using some good attacking angles and lines throughout the match, breaks the line to score under the posts. Final score 29-7.
This match was a strange one especially without the scrummaging contest which the forwards excel at in normal circumstances for supremacy. A positive was the backs, who when they got ball tried to run, attack with the ball sweeping across the field on numerous occassions making full use of the extra player. Reporters man of the match was a difficult decision to make Alex Cheese played well with good territority kicking, Harry HIllier looking to provide off load opportunity by his angles of running. The forwards again gave ther normal consistent performance in a difficult situation, Dave McKee, Alex Wadddingham, Dean Collin Josh Kronan to name a few. However this weeks reporters man of the match is Matt Mountford who gave direction to the backs and who was instrumental in breaking the game line and rolling back the years!!! A final thank you to a legend and gentleman, Walter McGuicken who has influenced the 2s team for many years with great passion,
dedication and support every player should be truly thankful.
