Cathcart kicking breathtaking

Chinnor Seconds welcomed London Scottish Claymores to Kingsey Road for their second consecutive home league match. With Sam Ludgate and Simon Matthews available our front row crisis was over for the week. We were fortunate to have Ricky Cano back after 5 weeks off following a horrendous car accident. Ricky felt ready to don his boots (Great club man) and to crown it all we even had bench cover.

The game started with the Scottish starting at a high pace and taking the game to the home side. Scottish knew it was going to be a tough game when we had the first scrum which proved to be a challenge for them with the strength of Chinnor. Chinnor settled down with all set pieces working very well and first points came by way of Ben Newman scoring in the corner and James Cathcart bisected the uprights. For the next 15 minutes the game was pretty even until the home side began to play some scintillating rugby for the huge crowd that were watching. In the 15 minutes before half time, tries were scored by Matty Mountford, George Blewitt and Ryan Long all in the corners leaving Cathcart with those near impossible kicks but just like the first the next three were like guided missiles and the first half ended 28 points to 0 for the home side..

The second half was as good as the first with the Scottish boys giving their all, but having no answer to the Chinnor set pieces. Matty Mountford got his second try after 10 minutes, this time the conversion was a lot easier for Cathcart. The final 30 minutes Chinnor had 4 try saving tackles by George Blewitt, Nathan Napier, Ryan Long and Matty Mountford which must have been frustrating for Scottish. In the same period Chinnor ran in 5 tries scored by George Blewitt, Harry Hillier, Adam Hastings and number 2 for Ryan Long with another conversion for Cathcart and 1 for George Grose. Scottish Claymores did get a converted try of their own and the final score was 59 points to 7 for Chinnor seconds.

This was once again a very good team performance with everyone contributing and team spirit worth at least 15 points a game. The forwards were outstanding, as was Mountford who marshalled the backs very well, but man of the match goes to Ryan Long

This makes it 5 wins from 5. Points scored 252 against 20. Tries 40 scored
