Leaky defence lets London Irish in

In a match vital for both side's stay in National 2, London Irish Wild Geese came out on top 47-31 in a free flowing game at Chinnor.

Wild Geese had the first quarter with two tries and a penalty to go 13-0 ahead on 14 minutes with tries from Berridge and Keohane and Thomas from the kick.
The next quarter went to Chinnor with a try from Betts on 19 minutes followed by a sweet move through the centre allowing Millett a converted try to make the score 12-13.
Wild Geese came back powerfully with two tries in 9 minutes from Smallbone and Browne, both converted by Thomas to go in ahead 27-12 at half time.

At the start of the second half, Wild Geese carried on with their determined style of play gaining a pushover try on 47 minutes, converted by Thomas to go further ahead 34-12. The Geese messed up a line out to allow Chinnor's Betts to power through midfield, releasing Millett to touch down and convert to reduce the deficit to 19-34. On the 57th minute, Wild Geese executed a 4 man front peel from a line out to go 39-19 ahead, Tolmie touching down. They increased their lead on the 63rd minute with a snap drop goal from Keohane to go a further 42-19 ahead. Chinnor stayed in the game when Townsend dotted down to reduce the margin to 42-24 to Irish, gaming a valuable bonus point try.
Chinnor's No 8, Hirskij-Douglas, took the ball up in the inside centre channel and showed a surprising turn of speed to slide through the defence for a try from 50 metres out. Converted by Millett, Chinnor had closed the gap to 31-42. In the dying minutes, summing up their day, Chinnor threw straight to Irish's hooker Scott Tolmie who sauntered to the line for Geese's final try of the day to record a well deserved 47-31 victory.
