Willie Ryan set for milestone appearance

WILLIE Ryan wins his 50th cap for our First XV as Chinnor take on Leeds Tykes at Kingsey Road tomorrow.

The likeable Irishman – who is in his fourth spell with the Club - continues at blindside flanker for this weekend’s National League 1 fixture.

Willie has started every game he has been available for this season, making 21 appearances in the 2021/22 campaign, while he has played more minutes than anyone else with 1,647 to his name.

He is part of an unchanged and powerful back-row, with captain Ben Manning at openside and Fred Tuilagi at No 8.

Seven changes – four positional – have been made to the rest of the side which started against Rams last Friday night, with Mark Darlington, Alex Hunt and Jack Walsh coming into the XV.

In the forwards, Darlington returns from international duty with the Netherlands to start at hooker, with Hunt stepping up from the bench at tighthead prop. Soane Tonga’uiha continues at loosehead, with the rest of the pack unaltered. Ben Glynn and Conor Brockschmidt are our lock pairing, with Ryan, Manning and Tuilagi in the back row.

Walsh comes in at fly-half for his first start since the end of January, forming a new half-back partnership with Luke Carter.

There is a bit of a reshuffle in the rest of the backs, with James Bourton moving to inside centre, Jason Worrall to 13, Kieran Goss to the right wing and Nick Smith to full back, while Dean Hammond continues on the left wing.

Keston Lines, Charley Robinson, Alfie North, Sam Yawayawa and George Grose are our finishers.
