Team News - Chinnor v Leeds Tykes

Jack Johnson17 Mar 2023 - 12:30

Starts for Berry, Blakemore, Cave & Harewood

WILL Cave makes his starting debut as Chinnor take on Leeds Tykes in another crucial National 1 fixture at Kingsey Road tomorrow.

Our First XV are bidding to make it three wins in a row as they aim to climb further away from the bottom three.

Seven points currently separates Chinnor and the relegation zone, while Tykes head into this fixture sitting second bottom and 14 points adrift of safety.

This will be our tenth match in the space of 11 weeks, with injury, international duty and unavailability continuing to play its part in team selection. Director of Rugby, Nick Easter has made nine changes - five positional - from the side which started the comeback victory at Esher last week.

Bradley Harewood, Cave, Andy Berry and Will Blakemore come into the XV, while the bench is completely different to eight days ago. With Ben Wilkinson and George Grose among the replacements tomorrow afternoon, we are proud to say there are five homegrown players in our matchday 20.

Loosehead Keston Lines and hooker Reece Marshall continue in the front row, with Harewood coming in at looshead. Henry Pearson shuffles back to join James Down at lock, with Conor Brockschmidt at blindside flanker, Cave - whose four caps so far have come from the bench - at openside and Berry at No 8.

There is only one personnel change in the backs with Will Blakemore starting at 12, but there are three positional alterations as Grant Hughes moves to 13, captain Jason Worrall to the right wing and Nick Smith to full-back. Pita Ratukadreu continues on the left wing, with Luke Carter at scrum-half and Tom Price at fly-half.

Willie Ryan has recovered from a hamstring injury and he is among the replacements, as is Wilkinson, Max Heathman, Grose and Jack Walsh.

Mark Darlington is away on international duty this weekend with the Netherlands, while Alfie North, Ben Manning, Josh Hodson, Kieran Goss, Dean Hammond, Will Cadden, Charlie Brabham and Josh Pieterse are injured.
