Pitch Up for Rugby at Chinnor

Pitch Up for Rugby at Chinnor

Jack Johnson7 Sep 2020 - 07:19

Come and join the fun this Sunday!

CHINNOR RFC Thame are pleased to be involved in England Rugby’s ‘Pitch Up for Rugby’ celebrations this weekend.

Our Senior teams and juniors have been back training during midweek for a little while now, carefully following the RFU’s Return to Community Rugby Roadmap.

Yesterday, our Minis and Juniors also returned to their regular Sunday slot with children aged 5-18 enjoying their rugby on our Kingsey Road pitches.

And this Sunday – September 13 – we are celebrating even further by opening up our Youth Section training to budding players across the area.

So, if you are dreaming of being the next Maro Itoje or simply want to give rugby a go, Chinnor RFC Thame is the place to be as we are welcoming children of all abilities to the Club between 9:30am and 3pm.

The sessions will involve non-contact training and intra club matches through Ready4Rugby and Touch Rugby with a maximum of 20 players.

Members of our Senior Squad and our Women’s team – the Kites – will also be in attendance supporting our age group coaches, as we celebrate community rugby at its best. Our Senior Squad will also be training on Pitch 1 from 10-11am as they prepare for their 2020/21 National League 1 campaign.

Our spacious Marquee, which is ideal for social-distancing, will be open, with a breakfast offering - prepared by our new Head Chef, Mark Goff - available. It will also host a series of presentations from 11am, focusing on the new chapter at Chinnor RFC Thame.

Due to space requirements stipulated in the RFU guidelines, minis and juniors training sessions will run across three slots as follows:
• 9:30am - 11am (Under 6 – Under 10)
• 11am – 12:30pm (Under 11 – Under 15)
• 1pm - 3pm (Girls Under 13, Girls Under 15, Under 16 and Colts)

The above time slots allow each age group to complete their training, pack up and vacate the pitch ready for the next team to follow on, preventing any unnecessary overlaps.

Parents will be required to park using different entrances depending on the training slot their child has been allocated. This will hopefully prevent any traffic jams both within our grounds but also outside of the Club.

Before attending the Club, please read the attached pitch allocation and parking information as well as the Youth Training Risk Assessment.

If you wish to bring your child along and this will be their first session, please email our Youth Secretary, Emma Canter on youthsecretary@chinnor-rfc.com, stating their name, age and rugby playing experience.

We look forward to seeing you at the Club on September 13!
