OXFORDSHIRE celebrated their second county title in the space of five years with a dramatic late victory over Berkshire.
A tight affair throughout, James Miller converted Antony Marris' 77th-minute try at the Richmond Athletic Ground to secure a 7-5 victory and spark jubilant scenes.
Berkshire had led 5-0 since the 21st minute, but Oxon dug deep and finally took their chance late on before holding out for another memorable success.
This latest triumph in Division 3 of the Bill Beaumont County Championship follows their success at Twickenham in 2017.
Chinnor were well represented in the final, with Greg Goodfellow starting at scrum-half, Bradley Harewood at tighthead and Oscar Heath on the right wing, while former players Dan Brady and Tommy Gray were also named in the XV.
Sam Yawayawa had also pulled on the Oxon jersey during the pool stages, and Matt Goode's side came up against a well-drilled Berkshire team which included former Chinnor players Ryan Lomas and Sam Nicholls.
Berkshire were the better side in the first half, but only held a slender 5-0 lead at the break.
Full-back Kieran Leicester missed a penalty on 17 minutes, but they did get off the mark four minutes later when hooker Max Hayman scampered over for an unconverted try following a well-worked attack off a lineout.
Oxon grew into the game and enjoyed more territory as the half drew to a close thanks to some astute kicking from Goodfellow, but there were only really half-chances to speak of.
They continued to push in the second half and the pressure looked to have taken its toll on 51 minutes, however Berkshire did well to hold up Witney hooker Marcus Reading.
And just when it had looked like it was not going to be their day, Oxon had other ideas.
Sustained pressure paid off and Rams prop Marris burrowed over under the posts to the delight of his teammates. The conversion was still needed, and Banbury fly-half Miller made no mistake to make it 7-5.
There was still time for Berkshire to strike back, but Oxon defended well on their own 22 to see out the victory and lift the shield.
