Chinnor make the trip to Goldington Road on Saturday to take on high flying, in-form Bedford Blues. Blues will be looking to continue their purple patch of form and consolidate their position in the top 2 to guarantee themselves a home semi-final in the inaugural Champ playoffs. A mightily impressive win away at Worcester Warriors was followed by a scintillating performance at Richmond where their free running backs were instrumental in racking up over 50 points.
It’s certainly this time of year that the Blues expansive game plan and lethal back 3 come into their own. Chinnor will be extra wary of this threat having conceded a heavy defeat this time last year in similar conditions.
Blues have a stellar backline with the experienced Maisey and Adamson perennial standout performers and given quick ball they are a huge threat.
Up front Heffernan at prop is the cornerstone of the pack and one of the Champ’s most destructive scrummagers. The back row features former Chinnor’s favourite Freddie Tuilagi who has enjoyed another superb season.
So Chinnor will need to be on their mettle to continue their exciting attempt at a playoff quarter-final spot. The magnificent win against Worcester at a highly emotionally charged Kingsey Road has put them in a strong position, but points are still needed from the last 2 games to guarantee a spot in the top 6.
After a long season injury concerns are mounting but with the season finales in sight Chinnor will be looking to continue their fine run of form with 4 wins from the last 5. 6 points are needed from a possible 10 to guarantee 5th and with teams from 4th- 8th playing each other there’s still prizes up for grabs!
