Welcome back, Jason!

CHINNOR RFC Thame is pleased to announce the return of Jason Worrall.

The South African, who was the joint top try-scorer at the Club and across National League 1 during 2019/20, is back at Kingsey Road as we prepare for the new campaign.

Capable of playing at full-back, outside centre or on either wing, our former First XV captain scored 18 tries in 25 appearances during his first spell at Chinnor, playing every minute bar one.

The former South Africa U20 international, who lives in Thame and works for platinum sponsor CPM, rejoins from London Scottish, having previously moved to Oxfordshire from Jersey Reds.

Worrall is delighted to be back at Kingsey Road.

He said: “It feels like I never left. Chinnor definitely holds a special place in my heart, and I’m buzzing to be back representing this Club. After a tough year for everyone I’m sure the supporters and players are looking forward to getting back to Kingsey Road. The Club has massive potential and the challenge to keep us moving in the positive direction set out by Richard (Thorpe, Director of Rugby) is something I feel very privileged to be a part of. Sometimes you forget the reasons why you started playing this lovely game - for the enjoyment and camaraderie - and Chinnor helps rediscover this feeling. I look forward to getting out there in the black and white again and hope to see everyone soon. It feels good to be home.”

Chinnor RFC Thame Director of Rugby, Richard Thorpe added: “Whilst the cataclysm that has been COVID-19 forced many good people to move on from Chinnor last year, I am humbled by how our Club has been able to rebuild itself to the point that players like Jason choose to return to us. His playing ability speaks for itself, but I am particularly excited to discover how Jason’s wider impact on the Club will continue to shape what we are now preparing to achieve. Welcome home, Jason.”
