Chinnor Rugby Club are proud to support the International Defence Rugby Competition (IDRC), a competition that sees Twelve teams of soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines from around the world compete to determine the greatest Armed Forces rugby union team on the planet.
The club recently received a letter from Squadron Leader Lambert of RAF Halton (near Wendover) inviting Chinnor members to continue their support of the armed services at the base which has been chosen as one of the host venues.
Teams from across the world will be hosted by the Royal Navy, the Army and the RAF for pool matches in Portsmouth, Aldershot and RAF Halton before the semi-finals and the final are held at The Stoop, home of Harlequins, during the week of the Rugby World Cup Final.
RAF Halton has been selected as a host venue and teams from South Africa, Georgia and Tonga will play their pool matches there. The pool games will be played on the 8th, 12th, and 15th of October. The matches will start at 11.30 and 2.30 each day and are free entry. You may even be lucky enough to spot the familiar faces of Ryan Hopkins, Daz Oliver, Andy & Matt Tibbatts in the RAF squad.
