Chinnor travel to south-west London on Saturday looking to keep their impressive recent record on track. They will be very focused as the last visit to London to play one of the great , traditional names of Rugby was a loss to a vibrant Blackheath.
Chinnor have never beaten Richmond at the RAG and will be well aware that the hosts will be looking to overturn the heavy defeat at Kingsey Road. Even in that loss Richmond showed their ability as they fought back well in the last quarter to score 4 tries. Any team that includes legendary Championship player Bright as their heart and soul will never go down without a fight.
Indeed since the loss at Chinnor Richmond have notched up some notable wins against Sale, Rosslyn Park and Blackheath. Local bragging rights against Park and Blackheath combined with a victory against resurgent Sale show the quality of the team and their ability to rise to the big challenges.
No doubt Richmond would have wanted to have been a few places higher and be in contention to bounce straight back to the Championship but surprising losses to Cinderford and Leicester Lions mean they sit in mid table. Those results do show the incredible quality of National One where no team can be complacent and anyone can beat anyone on their day.
Cameron Gray starts for Richmond in the second row, Cameron played for Chinnor a few years ago and was a big, physical presence in the pack. We hope he has a quieter game tomorrow.
Richmond always play an open, expansive game and in their dangerous back line they have some real strike runners.
For those travelling the Falcons match kicks off at 1.30 and as always this young, dynamic team will be giving it their all. All support for the team who have learnt so much this season will be much appreciated.
