Eye on the Opposition- London Scottish

John Vaughan27 Dec 2024 - 21:08

Chinnor take on London Scottish for the last fixture of their historic year.

Chinnor travel to South West London on Saturday to take on London Scottish in their fourth fixture of the month. After a very physical five weeks Chinnor will have to lift themselves for one last time before a mini break .
Scottish have had another variable season where they seem to be able to put in some wonderful performances and then succumb to surprising losses. This is illustrated well in the last matches, they ran Bedford Blues to the last play of the match where they suffered an agonising loss and then didn’t perform to expectations last week away at Caldy.
They have had some outstanding wins especially against Doncaster Knights and Cornish Pirates.
Scottish benefit from a very good relationship with close neighbours Harlequins and field another Harlequin laden team on Saturday.
Browne in the second row and the powerful Bradley in midfield will be intent on showing their ability.
It’s the first time since Chinnor have played the Londoners since the 2008/9 season in National 2 South. That year National 2 was extremely strong with Richmond, Rosslyn Park and Ealing Trailfinders also competing. Scottish fielded a star studded squad that year with many International and Premier players. They were captained by Ex Chinnor player Paul Volley and won the league comfortably. Chinnor’s were the only team to take a try scoring bonus point off the Champions when losing 54-28 at home in the last game of the season.
Neale Provan was another ex Chinnor star player before he also has an extremely successful career at Scottish.
Another afternoon for the raucous travelling support to make a difference and lift the boys especially as they are missing a couple of the most experienced performers following injury last week.
