Chinnor take on table toppers Coventry on Saturday in what is sure to be a real battle. Coventry have started the season in very strong fashion and deservedly sit at the top of the Championship after taking a maximum of 15 points from their first 3 matches. After an encouraging away trip to London Scottish in week 1 they laid down a statement win with the dismantling of a strong Bedford in week 2 in front of a huge crowd.
Coventry have added real quality to an already very strong squad and it's looking like if anyone finishes above them that team is likely to be Champions come the end of the season.
Chinnor played Coventry only a few weeks ago in a pre-season friendly and will have learnt much from that experience. Whilst the newcomers matched Coventry for the first 25 minutes they know any lapse in concentration and focus will be heavily punished. A drop in level of performance saw Coventry score 4 tries in 10 minutes at the end of the first half.
Coventry's strength lies in the power running and physicality of the back 5 of the scrum, where Fijian powerhouse number 8 Nayalo dovetails well with ex England flanker Matt Kvesic. A dominant set piece helps and Nwocha in the 2nd row adds to the physicality of their ball carriers.
From a solid platform ex Chinnor scrum half Barton and Australian 10 Richman can control proceedings. Out wide Tiueti is a constant threat and ex Ram Robson has taken to Championship rugby extremely well, having scored the try of the week in round 3.
Coventry boast strength in depth off the bench and at some point ex Chinnor backrow James Tyas will be making an appearance.
Nick Easter commented ' Coventry are an extremely capable team with real quality throughout their squad and very well coached. This undoubtedly will be a big step up as it's the first time we've played a fully professional, fulltime outfit. In front of a large, vociferous crowd the boys will have to be on top form to compete. We've learnt a few things from the friendly and are fully aware Cov will be firing.'
Chinnor make 2 changes in the starting line up from last week with Brocksmidt and Bourton returning. Stokesy replacing Max Clemenston on rotation with Tim Hoyt on his second loan period with Chinnor joining Moore Rokodrava, Pascoe and Smith
