A much-valued stalwart of our Club, Dave made a huge contribution and his legacy lives on in how we operate off the field of play. We have much to thank him for and it is obvious how much he meant to people at our Club by the comments we have read on social media over the last day or two.

He became our Club Webmaster in the 1990s and also set up the email structure for our officers and employees. His services to Technology were recognised in 1998/99 with the receiving of a Club tie.

At the time of the introduction of Pitchero as the RFU’s preferred website engine, Dave was instrumental in its set-up. Chinnor became the second club in the country to successfully take it on and we still use Pitchero to this day.

Dave – the founder member of the ‘Gourmet Club’ which travelled with the First XV to away games between 2005-2015 - was also the key driver in the Club’s introduction of a mechanised membership database and the mechanised payment system with its associated stock control.

Away from rugby he was a Senior Vice President at Veritas and during his time with them they sponsored our First XV for around five years.

Our thoughts and sympathies are with Dave’s wife Chris, children Joe and Matthew, and his wider family.

A celebration of Dave Winpenny will be held on Monday, July 18 at 12pm at North Oxfordshire Crematorium, Tackley, Kidlington, OX5 3ER.

As you know, Dave loved a party and this will take place straight after the funeral, with more details to follow soon.
