OUR Chinnor Family has continued to show us how amazing it is during such a challenging period – and we know you will rise to the occasion once again next weekend.
Our friendly rivals Banbury RUFC have accepted our offer of a rematch as the Community Group Cup returns over January 16-17.
The aim of this fun-filled Strava Challenge remains the same - this is a team effort and the aim is to walk or run further than Banbury over the course of the two days.
Of course, this time it will run alongside our own intra-club competition – the Chinnor Challenge – so while you all continue to impressively log miles for your teams, your activities over next weekend will also go towards our Community Group Cup total.
Please make sure you adhere to the government guidelines - which states exercise should be limited to once per day and be carried out locally - at all times. Please click HERE to read the national lockdown regulations in full.
We were so proud of your efforts in November when just under 350 of our Chinnor family registered an impressive 2,959 miles, averaging more per person than our Banbury counterparts.
It was so inspiring to see so many of you being active and your exploits so far in the Chinnor Challenge has only helped to lift our spirits further at the start of 2021.
So, let’s continue to build on that and see if we can beat our previous distance!
How do you get involved?
Click HERE to join our Strava club! You can then log your activities by selecting ‘Record’ at the bottom of the screen, choosing run or walk by clicking on the shoe and then pressing ‘Start’. Don’t forget, only your exercises on January 16-17 will count towards our total for the Community Group Cup.
Who can get involved?
Our whole Chinnor family, whether you are aged 5 or 65+. It doesn’t matter if you are a player, member, volunteer, supporter, parent, member of staff, a sibling, friend or family member of any of the previous, we’re calling on you to take part. There’s a Cup up for grabs and, of course, some county bragging rights, so we must do all we can to ensure we come out on top!
When will the Community Group Cup take place?
From 12:00am on Saturday, January 16 to 11:59pm on Sunday, January 17.
What do you have to do?
We may be in the middle of Lockdown 3.0, but we’re still allowed to exercise (please make sure you stick to the government guidelines!). So, plan some nice family walks over the weekend, take the dog for that extra bit of exercise it has been craving, dust off your running shoes and complete a 5k or meet up with one other person for a stroll and a catch-up. The beauty of this is that every little bit of mileage will help. It’s up to you whether you run, walk or do both, but just please remember to log it on Strava!
Can you share it on your socials?
Absolutely! As well as using your phone to log your exercises, we're encouraging you to take photos and videos of your walks and runs. Share it on your social media accounts and tag us in your posts using @ChinnorRFCThame and the hashtag #TeamChinnor. We're looking forward to seeing your posts!
Come on Chinnor!
