Improving the Chinnor experience for players and spectators alike

WHILE success on the rugby field is an important focus of ambition for Chinnor RFC Thame, the Club has also set its stall out as a beacon of light for engagement and participation in sport.

The Club is proud to have made a difference to the lives of people, regardless of age, gender or background. In particular, women and girls rugby goes from strength to strength, as do children’s sports camps and mini rugby festivals. The Club’s community program - powered by Community Group - in partnership with local schools has been very successful and along with our large group of volunteer coaches and administrators, has enabled young players to reach their potential, including gaining representative honours at county level.

Our success in these ventures, coupled with our continued ability to field up to six senior teams (First XV, Kites, Falcons, Wildboys, Outlaws and Oxen) has put pressure on our Clubhouse. The time has come to upgrade the facilities at Kingsey Road during this, our Diamond Anniversary season.

What are we doing?
An achievable plan is underway involving the building of a viewing balcony along the front of the Players’ Bar and extending the undersized team changing rooms. This will enhance the Chinnor experience for senior/junior players and supporters alike.

We have been fortunate to have secured section 106 funding (contributions from housing developers) as well as a capital grant from SODC. This leaves a shortfall of £80,000...

What is involved in the development?

  • Larger changing rooms for players
  • An extended balcony for spectators and socialising
  • Improved walk ways between the Clubhouse and Pitch 1 to help reduce the mud!

How can you help?
To cover this, we have launched a ‘Buy A Brick’ fundraising campaign. Details are in the attached document and we encourage individuals, families, teams and businesses to make a donation to this worthwhile project. Each brick slip can have 2 lines of 16 characters (including spaces) and the process is very simple.

What does Buy A Brick mean?
Platinum Brick - £1k
Gold Brick - £500
Silver Brick - £250
Bronze Brick - £125

Just like in the hallway between the Players' Bar and Members' Bar, your brick will be installed at the Clubhouse to celebrate your contribution.

Payment can be made in the following ways:

  • By BACS / bank transfer - please use your surname as a reference and hand your form in over the bar.
  • By paying on card machine at the bar, again they will take your completed form.
  • By paying online, via the membership system on the club website. No form is needed as it collects all the relevant information. Please click HERE.
  • Via TicketPass. No form is necessary and you can add brick wording after adding Card details and selecting Book Tickets. Please click HERE.

Our principal sponsor, Rectory Homes, has generously offered to match-fund donations.

This is a project that will improve the Chinnor experience for senior/junior players and spectators alike – and that benefit will be felt by both the current and future generations that come to Kingsey Road.

Thank you in advance for your support.
