THE race to become our leading top try and point scorers is hotting up as we head into February.
First XV wing/centre Jason Worrall had a stellar first half of the season and is still in front, but his lead has been cut to three, with a handful of players starting to catch up.
Wildboys wing Ben McIntosh has crossed three times since the turn of the year, taking his tally to nine, while Falcons hooker Will Cave is now on eight. The biggest mover has been Wildboys wing Joe Chapman, with four tries in two games - including a hat-trick on Saturday - seeing him climb to joint third on eight.
With regards to the points, First XV full-back Nick Smith scored 27 points in January and that has helped him into top spot. Worrall is second on 60, with Wildboys centre Sam Hick still third on 46 despite being on his travels. It is getting close behind them, though, as McIntosh, Cave and Chapman are fast approaching, while Wildboys scrum-half Charlie Nicholls is not far behind either.
