Thame-based, Chinnor Rugby Club are proud to have been re-accredited by the Rugby Football Union. The club, who offer rugby for all, had to demonstrate that it is well managed and puts player development at the heart of all activities. The assessment covered all aspects of the club from to facilities to coaching to catering. Youth participation was an important factor and with over 400 players under the age of 18, the club is in good shape. The club boasts five senior sides, ranging from the 1st XV who compete in the National Leagues to the Oxen (veterans) and every level in between. For younger players, rugby starts for players aged 6 and upwards and the club runs training sessions and matches for every age group up to Colts (U18s). An important part of the sport is hosting the opposition and the club has good facilities, a well-stocked bar and excellent catering.
Club Chairman Paul Fincken said “We are pleased to have been re-accredited by the RFU. It is a testament to all our volunteers who commit their time and effort to making the club a great place to play and watch rugby. We have an exciting season ahead of us with some new signings to our 1st XV, the Rugby World Cup starting in September as well as plans to develop the clubhouse in the offing. We are a welcoming club and we aim to make the ‘Chinnor’ experience a good one, whether as a player, a spectator or an occasional visitor!”
