CHINNOR RFC Thame are delighted to announce that Caolan Ryan will remain at the Club for the 2020/21 campaign.
The 28-year-old, who has scored 119 points in 30 appearances, will be at Kingsey Road for a third season.
Ryan further strengthens our options at fly-half, joining Club Captain Bertie Hopkin and Head of Careers Sam Angell in the senior squad.
The former Birmingham Moseley, Coventry and Rotherham Titans man can also play at full-back, with the majority of his 16 appearances in the 2019/20 campaign coming at 15.
Ryan, who works as a Land Buyer at principal sponsor Rectory Homes, has been attending the Club’s pre-season priming training sessions throughout June and is thrilled to sign on for another year.
He said: “I’m really pleased to stay for a third season. I feel at home here and I've settled locally. My family love the area and I see myself staying here for a long time. I really appreciate how the Club supported me when I first arrived in 2018, providing me with an opportunity which I’ve been able to turn into a full-time job. I’ve been really impressed with the approach Richard Thorpe (Director of Rugby) is taking with the squad and making sure the culture of the Club is right. He wants the Club to be a positive place where you want to spend your Tuesdays, Thursdays and weekends, which is obviously invaluable time when you’re working five days a week. The clubs where I’ve played my best rugby have really pushed that and when you’re enjoying yourself in training and games, more than likely you will play well. It’s really good to already be training at the Club and seeing people in the flesh rather than on screens, but I can’t wait to start training properly and playing whenever that may be.”
Chinnor RFC Thame Director of Rugby, Richard Thorpe said: “Caolan is a natural leader, and a perfect fit for the new-look Chinnor we are building. He will play a pivotal role in managing our back line, and his character will serve to lift all players around him. He will help drive our 'one club' culture and contribute to keeping players spirits high as we continue to navigate through COVID-19 towards our first game”.
We recently launched our Careers Hub which is designed to help players identify a career path and subsequently find them employment. If you would like further information, please email our Head of Careers, Sam Angell on s.angell@chinnor-rfc.com.
