I am delighted to come on board as Sponsorship Manager for the 2019-20 campaign as the club prepares for what will be undoubtedly be a stellar season both on and off the pitch.
I am excited to get started and spread the word of Chinnor RFC throughout the local region and beyond, strengthening the existing relationships which have allowed the club to grow in the way it has over the past few years, while developing relationships with other companies and organisations in the region as we continue to be the most ambitious club in National 1.
My pathway to rugby was far from a traditional one. Born in London to a Venezuelan/Italian father and Colombian mother, I spent eight years across South America during my childhood in Venezuela and Colombia, before I fell in love with the oval-shaped ball at school upon returning to London.
“You’re a big boy – catch the ball and run hard,” were the words I remember from my coach as a child. Those words stuck with me for the next 16 years as a prop as I went on to play for, Leicester Tigers, Ealing Trailfinders and Bedford Blues following university rugby with Loughborough.
Then the call from Chinnor came via Dan George, who put me in touch with Director of Rugby Matt Williams. Upon hearing his pure excitement for the squad after assembling it for the past few years and the terrific ambitions going forward, it became clear to me that Chinnor RFC would be my next destination.
Being the highest-ranked rugby union club in Oxfordshire, I am looking forward to working in Thame and Oxon as Chinnor looks to cement its place as the best community club in the region and beyond.
There is a fantastic energy up and down the club, from the first-team players to the staff in the clubhouse. You can sense that something special is happening at Chinnor.
That buzz will spread to the fans too and we look forward to welcoming you at Kingsey Road for a special season.
