Ben Glynn Signs For Chinnor

Jack Johnson4 Aug 2021 - 11:58

Former Bristol lock joins our Senior Squad

CHINNOR RFC Thame is thrilled to confirm the signing of former Premiership lock Ben Glynn.

The 30-year-old joins Kingsey Road with a wealth of experience, with Bristol, Harlequins, Ospreys and Northampton Saints among his former clubs.

Glynn, who stands at 6ft 6in and weighs in at 121kg, strengthens our second-row options with four-and-a-half weeks remaining until our National League 1 season opener at home to Sale.

Ben joined the Bristol Rugby Academy at the age of 18 and progressed into the senior team making a total of 140 appearances across seven years.

The former England U18 helped Bristol to promotion into the Premiership for the 2016/17 season and made 18 appearances in the top flight. Glynn then went on to play 40 games for Harlequins, before spells with Ospreys and Saints.

Glynn, who is beginning a new career in finance, is now making the transition into semi-professional rugby and is enthused by the opportunity at Chinnor.

Ben said: “I’m excited to be joining Chinnor for the upcoming season. Everyone has been really welcoming and we’ve got a great group of players. Thorpey and Hampo (Craig Hampson, Head Coach) have got big ambitions for the Club and I’m looking forward to playing my part in them.”

Chinnor RFC Thame Director of Rugby, Richard Thorpe added: “I am delighted that we have been able to secure Ben Glynn for the coming season. Ben steps straight in as our Lineout Coach alongside his role as a player. He is well connected with our other coaching staff having played previously with both Soane Tonga’uiha and Craig Hampson during his professional career. Transitioning into semi-professional rugby can often be a challenge for rugby players, however Ben has joined us with a high level of energy, enthusiasm and the grit typical of a top-flight lock. With his new career in finance also underway, I am excited to see the impact he will make in National League 1. Welcome to Chinnor, Ben!”
