With lots going on at the club, both on and off the pitch, we wanted to bring everyone up to speed with how our amateur senior teams were progressing this season. Let's see what the coaches and management had to say about their Seasons So Far.
Chinnor Kites
This season has brought a lot of change for the Kites. A new coaching group naturally brings a different perspective and philosophy, and with new players arriving and others moving on, the whole dynamic shifts. It’s a big cultural adjustment, but the squad have really embraced it, and the buy‑in has been outstanding.
Defence was one of our first priorities, and the work the players have put in has been huge, hours of detail, tackle time, and repetition. The impact is clear: we’ve conceded 50 fewer points than at this stage last year and already have more league points than we did this time last season. We’ve become one of the most aggressive defensive units in the league, and that’s down to the collective effort across the group.
January brought some close games we felt we could’ve or should’ve taken, but those moments also clarified our next steps. We’re generating more turnovers than anyone else in the league and getting into the green zone regularly, but we’re not converting at the rate we want. The focus now is on bringing the same connection and calmness we show in defence into our attack, while adding the same level of aggression we defend with. Calm in how we see the picture, aggressive in how we take the opportunities.
The foundations are strong, and the progression is visible week by week. The atmosphere in camp is excellent, with players and coaches working hard and driving standards. We’ve already seen real growth in cohesion and performance; now it’s about turning that into results on the scoreboard. When this group connects, the Kites have shown they can compete with anyone and when they connect ore regularly they will beat anyone.
Finally, a huge thank you to our supporters. The feedback about the team’s progress and performances has meant a great deal. The support at home has been incredible, and the players feel that energy every week. We’re grateful for it, and we hope it continues, it genuinely makes a difference.

Chinnor Wildboys 3's
The Wildboys have delivered an impressive campaign so far, underpinned by a strong defensive platform and a consistent ability to score points across the park. From the opening weeks of the season, the side has shown a clear identity built on physicality up front, good game management, and an increasingly confident attacking shape.
Their winning form has been highlighted by a number of standout performances. Convincing victories over Buckingham and Reading Abbey set the tone early on, while emphatic wins against Wallingford and Oxford demonstrated the squad’s ability to dominate both home and away fixtures. In these matches, the Wildboys combined disciplined defence with clinical finishing, regularly turning pressure into points and controlling games for long periods.
Just as importantly, the team has shown real resilience in tighter contests. The narrow one-point victory away at Bletchley was a defining moment in the season, showcasing composure under pressure, commitment in defence, and the mental toughness required to grind out results when margins are fine. These are often the matches that shape a successful league campaign.
The positive momentum built before Christmas carried seamlessly into the New Year. The dominant January win over Reading was further evidence of the squad’s fitness, cohesion, and attacking confidence, with the Wildboys quickly re-establishing their rhythm after the festive break and setting an early marker for 2026.
This blend of attacking fluency and defensive organisation suggests the Wildboys are genuine contenders in Counties 1 Tribute Ale Southern North this season. As the remaining fixtures are played, the focus will be on maintaining consistency, continuing to build squad depth, and pushing hard for a strong league finish that reflects the quality and commitment shown throughout the campaign. A strong win in the Cup semi-final against Oxford RFC sees the Wildboys progress to the final on March 14th.
A massive thank you must be said to the club for its support, the players for their commitment and drive and the coaches for their unwavering belief in the team.

Chinnor Outlaws IV
The 2025–26 season has been an excellent one so far for Chinnor IV, who currently sit top of Counties 3 Tribute Ale Berks, Bucks & Oxon North with a perfect league record. Eleven matches played, eleven wins, and the side continues to go from strength to strength as the campaign reaches its midpoint.
The team got off to a flying start back in September with a strong away win at Banbury III, setting the tone for what has followed. October brought one of the standout performances of the season, with Chinnor IV running in plenty of tries at home against Witney III to record a memorable triple‑figure score line. Results like that showed just how dangerous this side can be when confidence is high.
As the season moved into November and December, tougher tests followed, but Chinnor IV continued to deliver. Good wins over Stow‑on‑the‑Wold II and Oxford Harlequins III were backed up by a hard‑fought away victory at Harwell, where the squad showed real composure to see out a close game. A home walkover before Christmas ensured momentum was maintained heading into the festive break.
The New Year has started just as positively. A solid home win against Banbury III was followed by an awarded victory away at Chipping Norton II, keeping the unbeaten run firmly intact. With the best points difference in the league, Chinnor IV’s attacking threat and defensive organisation have set them apart so far.
There is still plenty of rugby to be played, but the signs are hugely encouraging. As ever, a huge thank you goes to everyone who has pulled on the famous gold shirt so far this season, as well as to those supporting every week on the sidelines. The effort, commitment and togetherness continue to shine through, and if those standards are maintained, the second half of the season promises to be another exciting chapter for Chinnor IV.
