2024/25 Season Summary

A round up of the highlights from across our club

Chinnor Rugby Club Season Summary
As the dust settles on the 2024/25 season it provides an opportunity to reflect on a special and unique time in the club’s history and look ahead to what’s next.

It was filled with exciting moments, outstanding performances, and more people visiting Kingsey Road than ever before. Thank you for all your support, it's been a true team effort.

The following are some key highlights from across the club:

Borthwick & Red Roses
The Juniors girls got close-up with World Player of the Year, Ellie Kildunne and fellow Red Roses back in February and then in April England Head Coach arrived in early April to coach and meet the whole M&J section. He was incredible with players and parents, staying until everyone had a photo. A very special day for all involved at the club.

Minis Festival Success
Our minis festival was a huge hit, showcasing the enthusiasm and talent of our youngest players. A big thank you to everyone involved in making it such a success with over 3000 visiting us in just one day!

Junior Section Growth
We've continued to see increased participation in our junior sections, with more boys and girls than ever lacing up their boots and enjoying the game. It's wonderful to see the next generation of Chinnor Rugby Club players developing their skills and passion for the sport with many gaining representative honours too.

Senior Team Success
If the End of Season Awards dinner was anything to go by the senior teams are in good health with notable successes on the pitch and some serious celebrations off it. The Outlaws won their league, and the Kites toured Flanders whilst the Falcons returned to Jersey. Thank you to all three teams involved in our inaugural Amateur Day. Great to see the players, coaches, managers and medical teams flourishing and creating lifelong friendships and memories.

Debut Championship Season
We're particularly proud of our first season in the Championship, where we finished 10th. The team showed great resilience and determination, and we're super excited for what the future holds. It’s a well deserved few weeks off for the squad and you would’ve seen new signings as well as a few sad goodbyes. Willie Ryan’s retirement means there’s some big boots to fill and we’re confident Nick Easter will be doing his up-most to strengthen the side for a longer, stronger 25/26 season of Champ Rugby.

Fantastic Support
The support has been phenomenal, with attendances being the 3rd highest in the league and growing by almost 1,000 per match. Thank you to everyone who came out to cheer us on - your energy and enthusiasm make a huge difference! Very loud and very proud.

Looking to the Future
While we've achieved a lot, we're aware of the challenges ahead. We're committed to meeting Champ league minimum standards and improving our facilities. This off-season, we're focusing on key projects, including:

1) Giving our clubhouse and changing rooms a fresh new look with a lick of paint and new flooring in parts
2) Increasing our covered seating and standing areas to meet league requirements
3) Upgrading our marquee with a new raised floor, improved security, entrance, and bar
4) Pitch improvement works are well underway, doubling our investment and whilst this causes some disruption in the off-season it’s critical to the longevity and quality through the wetter months. There will be a communication regarding off-season training.

Call to Arms
To make these projects a reality, we'll be relying on the goodwill and generosity of our members and sponsors. We're launching Club DIY Days and Ways to Support Our Club fundraising initiatives, so keep an eye on ways to get involved and help us raise the funds we need. Your support means the world to us, and we're excited to work together to take Chinnor Rugby Club to the next level.
