Extra Firepower added to the Chinnor Backline.........

Former South African U20 International Jason Worrall arrives from Jersey Reds where he played 33 games scoring 11 tries in two seasons.

The 25 year old flyer is equally happy playing fullback, wing or centre and formerly represented Western Province in both the Vodacom and Currie Cup.

Worrall has also represented SA Schools, as well as being educated at Stellenbosch University where he also played his rugby.

Jason commented, “It is an honour to be part of Chinnor for the up and coming season and I hoping to contribute to the ambitions and goals of this exciting squad. This is a new challenge in my career and with a great bunch of guys Matt has put together I feel we can achieve something special!”

22 year old Fijian born Sam Yawayawa, raised in a military family, was schooled in Scotland where he was selected for the Scotland U16s. Moving to Leicester when he was 16, Sam then found himself in the Tigers Academy representing England at U18’s. At the age of 18 Leicester Tigers loaned Sam to Nottingham in the Championship where Sam played 9 games showing huge potential with his electric feet and power in contact.

At the end of the season Sam was offered a Scotland Academy spot and signed for Glasgow Warriors where he played for the Hawks and represented Scotland U20s.

Wanting to move back South of the border to be nearer to home Sam turned his back on the pro game and signed for Cambridge in National One where he played 25 games including home and away against Chinnor.

Chinnor DOR Matt Williams added, “There is no question Sam has a huge amount of talent, he has had opportunities in the Pro game that prove this and he was one of the stand out performers against us last season. What Sam needs is consistency, It doesn’t take a genius to see he has moved about a lot which doesn’t help his performance but I hope he finds a home for the foreseeable future with us that will only help his rugby grow and grow.”

Sam added, “When I played against Chinnor last season I really liked their style of rugby and having spoken to friends at the Club it was obvious their culture was something I wanted to be part of. After speaking to Matt I am excited to move to Thame and make a real go of it - I want my rugby to do the talking on the pitch!”

Matt concluded, “With a fit again Oscar Heath who has had a tough 2 seasons with injuries and fitness, Club favourite Kieran Goss, and the new additions of Will Harries, Josh Hodson, Jason Worrall and Sam Yawayawa we are looking really healthy in the back three. It’s important we have flexibility of positions within our backline; Chris Elder is a back three by trade even though I’m viewing him as a centre, Sam and Jason can both play 13, a fit again Caolan Ryan is happy at 15 as well as 10, suddenly we have options that allow all eventualities to be covered.”
