Chinnor Rugby are delighted to announce the signing of former Manu Samoa captain and London Irish legend Ofisa Treviranus.

Ofisa is an all-action back-row forward, with 42 international caps under his belt for Samoa. Of those 42, he has started 32, including playing in both the 2011 and 2015 Rugby World Cups. Prior to the RWC 2015, Samoa faced the All Blacks in New Zealand's infamous first ever visit to Apia, Samoa's capital, in a game that saw Ofisa wear the captain's armband for the first time.

A powerful ball carrier known for his big defensive tackles, Ofisa first broke onto the world scene as a big ball carrying wing for Irish province Connacht in 2008. Ofisa then went on to represent Samoa at the International Sevens Series, assisting his nation in securing their first and only Series title to date in 2010.

Ofisa found his way to the British shores following RWC 2011, signing for London Irish in what would be his only club in the UK until now. A firm fan favourite, Ofisa enjoyed eight seasons with Irish, making 140 appearances.

Ofisa commented "I am excited to be part of Chinnor rugby. Chinnor are a club showing great ambition and I hope I can give the club a small part of my experience. Chinnor has a great set of players, coaches and staff and what Matt has created feels like I have a re-energised opportunity, and I'm excited to contribute and help make history for the club."

Director of Rugby, Matt Williams added, "I'm obviously delighted to welcome Ofisa to Chinnor. Not only is Ofisa still a brilliant player his leadership qualities and demand for excellence from his team mates will be a huge contributing factor to the success of the season. Last season we were too often too nice and Ofisa will give us a hardened edge we often lacked."
