New rugby players sought to boost the squad for the Thame-based club

On the back of a good season, the Chinnor Colts are looking to expand their numbers and field two teams. The club has applied to enter one team in Division 1 of the Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire (OBB) Under 18 League and the second team in Division 2.

The Colts, who train as a single squad, are made up of U17 and U18 (Year 12 and Year 13) male players. No previous club experience is necessary, but a commitment to training and matches is expected. Current players are drawn from Thame, Aylesbury, Waddesdon, Princes Risborough, Watlington and the surrounding villages.

With Matt Marley (London Scottish), Jake Ashby (Cornish Pirates) and Ehize Ehizode (Bristol Bears) announced as the Colts Coaches for the coming season, things are looking good on the field.

"We are delighted to be fielding two Colts teams next season" said Club President John Ashfield. "The is the pinnacle of youth rugby and will prepare the players for the adult game. The coaching is first class and the players make friends for life."

Players can try out any Wednesday evening at 7pm. Pre-season training starts on Sunday 1st September with the season starting the following week. More information can be found on the club website or by emailing Alex Bond on colts@chinnor-rfc.com
