About the Under 7s:
We offer quality coaching to boys and girls who are turning 7 during the 2017-2018 school year (Y2).
Our focus is on encouraging our players to have fun, develop friendships and to learn skills through rugby. U7s play and compete in tag rugby in teams which are 4-strong and playing on a pitch 20m x 12m. There is no tackling, scrums, kicking or line outs and players are not allowed to go to ground to score. We aim to send your son or daughter home having enjoyed themselves and hopefully worn out!
When and where do we meet?
We start our sessions at 10am on Sunday mornings for 90 minutes. We ask players to arrive 15 minutes before to make the most of the session. We play at Chinnor RFC in Thame, beside the Club House.
Do we play matches against local teams?
Yes, we have a full timetable of home and away games in the Oxfordshire/Buckinghamshire area. Towards the end of the season we also attend a number of all day festivals. It is important that players attend as regularly as possible in order that they have the best opportunity to learn, be involved as the group develops and have the best chance of doing well in matches and festivals.
Who are the coaches?
We're lucky to have some very generous parents who volunteer to coach our U7s. Our coaches are DBS checked and are licensed RFU coaches, or have Rugby Ready coaching certificates. We'd love to have more volunteers join us - there's plenty to do from coaching, first aid, refereeing and team admin.
How can you find out more?
We're always looking for new players. Please drop a note to one of the Officials (Lead Admin or Lead Coach) or join us at one of our training sessions on a Sunday morning (remember to check our fixtures). Please turn up and ask for Richard (Lead U7 Coach) or Rachel (Lead U7 Admin).
