Camber Sands Rugby Festival

It was a fantastic tour, we would like to forward our thanks to everyone for making it so successful, parents for facilitating it financially and the players for taking part.

Whilst away, we had lots of positive comments about the the team spirit and good manners both at the rugby ground and when we were out at the restaurant off the park. The tourists were great ambassadors for Chinnor RFC, something the club has heard about and praised, we wanted to thank them for being the exemplary young men that they are, we're very proud of them.

A lot of great rugby was played over the weekend with five matches each day, we finished third in our group having had several wins and draws along with a some losses which only served to spur them onto greater things.

We brought home the sportsmanship and fair play award from the presentation evening which all of the match referees vote on after each match.

On the way home, we presented two trophies of our own;

Tour Champion went to Josh Hillyard having turned up to rugby each morning in his full Chinnor playing kit despite being unable to play, for his efforts supporting and looking after the players with water and sideline advice and training with them in-between matches. He was really keen to get on the pitch with them but unfortunately could not do so due to his previous injury. We'll look forward to his return to play next season.

Player of the Tour went to Joe Harrington, an inspirational young Captain who leads by example, a first match loss where the player's heads went down was turned into some of the most exceptional displays of attacking rugby and strong defences throughout the rest of the tournament, all achieved from his direction with minimal coaching input.
