No show from Richmond and stats for second tea,

Chinnor Seconds vs. Richmond Saxons
With no surprise to us, Richmond Saxons conceded the game against us today. The irony of it all is that their coach couldn’t accept the Referees decision when he awarded us the game on 21st January after 63 minutes of play. A huge song and dance was made of it – as a result we were instructed to set a date for the game and the only available weekend was last weekend, which they didn’t object to.
With apologies to King Jan 111 of Poland,
Veni, Vidi, Vice.
We came, we saw, God conquered.
Away game: We travelled. They thrashed us. We accepted.
Home game: They came. We beat them. They did not accept defeat.
Result of game: Theyobjected. The shield agreed. They get replay.
Replay game: They pull out. We get the points. We get justice.

Home game;they load team with second team players and lose.
Week before they play us 8 of the team play seconds.
Week after they play us 9 of their team play us.
Last week 7 of their players play for their first team against Hartbury College. so you can see Chinnor seconds play great rugby.
Forgive any cynicism if it shows.

Chinnor Seconds Match Report for 21th January 2012
Chinnor Seconds vs. Richmond Saxons
Chinnor Seconds welcomed Richmond Saxons to Chinnor for the return leg of the league, having been well beaten previously by Saxons on their home ground by 50 points to 12. Chinnor were up for it and wanted payback, and for Saxons to see how they have improved! Saxons lead the way being top of the table with only having lost two out of the seventeen games they have played.
The first half started well for Chinnor with the forwards driving a very big Saxons pack all over the pitch in the scrum and mauls as well as the loose ball. Chinnor had many opportunities to score but tended to rush things. The Ref allowed several infringements to go by in order to keep the game flowing. Saxons against the run of play scored first just on twenty minutes 5 points to 0. Saxons had the advantage of a very strong wind at their backs which they failed to use to their advantage, and the wind also made the lineouts nearly impossible. However Chinnor continued to dominate the loose play and when the Saxons back line got the ball, the Chinnor back line boys closed them down. It took Chinnor until the thirtieth minute for young up and coming eighteen year old Will Millett playing 10, to break through the centre and run from the 10 metre line to score in the corner and the score and levelled the points to 5 points each. There could and should have been a lot more points to Chinnor by this stage.
Chinnor came out of the blocks at full speed in the second half and scored within three minutes when Trevor Powell picked up a loose ball that Saxons had lost and sprinted from the 10 metre line to score in the corner, Chinnor increased their lead to 10 points to 5. A few minutes on and the score could have increased with an open try line, Max knocked the ball on (the boys insisted I should point this out) Sorry! At this stage the Ref pulled up with his calf muscle. The Saxons Coach wanted the game called off for a replay at a later stage. My call on this was for the Ref to make the decision and not ours. After all this is part of the Ref’s remit and his responsibility. It seemed strange that the Richmond coach wanted the game called off at this point. We can only surmise that he was not confident about the outcome with the way the game was going. Chinnor were playing the better rugby and were in the lead. On twenty two minutes it was the turn of James Serranno to add the next points to the Chinnor tally and the lead increased lead to 15 points to 5 in Chinnor’s favour. At this stage I must point out that Saxons had hardly been in the Chinnor 22 and most of the play was being controlled by Chinnor. It was about five minutes later that the Ref called off the game and awarded Chinnor the points as an incomplete game, having completed 65 minutes of playing time. The Richmond Coach went ballistic at the Ref. This Coach can be relieved; because any other Ref would have red carded and reported him for the abuse. This carries a 24 week ban, so he was lucky! The Coach believed the Ref had stopped them winning the game. This was real wishful thinking on his part because Chinnor did have a convincing lead, were playing the better rugby and had outclassed Richmond the whole game. If anything we were denied a bonus point! I should also point out the Saxons players were happy with the outcome and disappointed with their Coach’s behaviour, and offered apologies for his unsportsman like behaviour. It would be good to see him apologise for the way he spoke to the Ref.
The whole team played very well with forwards and backs linking well together and always someone in support and when you think that we had 10 to pick from for the bench on Tuesday night and 3 on the bench by Thursday, It was a great effort against such a strong London club we can all be proud of Chinnor. Sorry it ended like it did but we would have won by more points anyway it we play another 15 minutes.
Man of the match was Simon Matthews out of retirement once again, Thanks for helping us out
