Chinnor seconds travelled to Windsor for their first friendly run of the season, Windsor being the only club prepared to play us and for that we were most grateful. For some reason even Henley 2nds declined to play us. I don’t know why it is, we ended up short of players and appreciated Antony Kent and Simon Mathews for helping us out on the field and Ed Vickers who was a great help with running the team and the line, Thank you boys.
The game started with a very spirited Windsor taking the game to Chinnor while the boys tried to settle down and get the game to flow. It took until we broke the dead lock with Ricky Hopwood crossing the line, after some great passing. The try was converted by Alex (Pickle) Stevenson. On 20 minutes Windsor closed the gap with a penalty making the score 7 to 3. The boys then began to gel and work together and prevented Windsor from having any ball to play with thus putting them on the defence, which they did like demons. They were unable to stop Chinnor scoring and tries were scored by Adam Hastings, George Grose and Pickle and the first half finished 26 points to 3.
The second half was more of the same with Windsor giving their all and not stepping back – credit to them they never gave up. Tries were scored in this half were by Nathan Napier 2, George Blewitt, Nick (GRIZZER) Harrison and a second by Ricky Hopwood of which 2 were converted by Pickle. Final score 57 points to 3
This was a very good team performance with Captain Jon Lavin, Adam Hastings and Tom Evans standing out in the pack, and then Ricky Hopwood, Sam Angel and Nathan Napier (who made his debut) in the backs. But man of the match goes to Grizzer Harrison who played his normal outstanding game and great team player.
Once again, a big thank you to Johnny the Windsor coach for accepting to play us and to Jacqui and Megan for driving the bus with all the kit and bags.
