Old Albanians couldnt live with Chinnor 2nd XV

Chinnor seconds enjoyed another win 42 – 26. They beat Old Albanians seconds who haven’t lost a game this season. The away friendly was played due to Worthing having pulled out of the league fixture. Old Albanians kicked off and the ball was caught by Sam Black who ran 50 metres, passed it on to Adam Hastings who was very unlucky not to score. Old Albanians came straight back at Chinnor with an impressive pack and Chinnor were forced to defend their try line for about 10 minutes of continuous pressure before they finally got turnover ball. They then started driving up field followed by quick ball from the ruck that allowed Mark Chase to outpace the Old Albanians and score under the posts, which he converted. Once again Chinnor was under attack from the kick off and conceded a soft try, which brought the score to 7, points each.Chinnor stepped up the pace over the next 20 minutes and this resulted in outstanding rugby from the boys. The forwards controlled the game and the backs utilised the quick ball well, allowing Chasey to run in another 2 tries giving him a hat trick. Both successfully converted by Sam Angell. Ten minutes of extra time that was questionable allowed Ricky Hopwood to chip and chase and gather his own kick to score under the posts. Again converted by Angell and the first half finished 28 points to 7 in Chinnor’s favour The second half started with Old Albanians once again trying to put Chinnor under pressure despite the forwards and backs having defended their line well, Old Albanians were rewarded with a converted try.Chinnor stepped up the ante and settled down to play their usual great rugby keeping Old Albanians under constant pressure with all the forwards and backs outstanding.Matt Webster then had a wonderful run for about 40 metres down the wing before passing the ball to Sam Ludgate who scored, and again converted by Angell. Finally the birthday boy Andy Berry 18 years old today had his turn to score after some great work from the pack, again converted by Angell.Chinnor appeared to relax a little by taking their eye off the ball by conceding two tries to Old Albanians. The final score was Chinnor 42 points to Old Albanians 24.The game was played between two well-balanced sides and provided enjoyable rugby for the spectators. As always it was a very hospitable club to visit.
