DOR Matt Williams is delighted to announce the retention of two key players in Captain Danny Barnes and the influential fullback Kieran Goss.

Former Munster and Newcastle Falcon Danny Barnes has been an ever present in the starting XV during his three seasons at Chinnor. This has included two seasons as Captain, helping lead Chinnor to promotion two seasons ago & playing 81 games out of a possible 90.

Danny commented, " I'm delighted to be staying at Chinnor for my fourth campaign. I am very passionate about the Club and to be part of the squad Matt has assembled this season as we push for a top three spot is exciting. Having Captained the boys for two seasons, gaining promotion and retaining our league status in Nat One seems the perfect moment for me to hand the baton on and focus on being a player.....This year I want to focus completely on rugby, work hard and do my talking on the field!"

Matt Williams added, " Not only is Danny is a very passionate player, he is also a top bloke and has done a marvellous job working alongside myself as Captain of the team. I'm delighted he is staying with us and respect and understand his reasonings for handing back the Captaincy. He deserves to get his 100 Cap and I think we may see a real spark in him this season with the drive to be as influential on the field as he has been off it."

Fullback Kieran Goss first wore Chinnor colours whilst on loan from Cornish Pirates in 2015. In season 2016/7 Kieran signed permanently and has only missed a small handful of games over three seasons for injury. A regular Man of The Match, it would be hard argued to find a more influential player than Kieran at Chinnor.

Matt Williams commented, "No one can deny the contribution Kieran has made to the success of our team. In our two seasons fighting for promotion Kieran tore National Two apart, and carrying injuries too! Last season once again he was one of the first names on the team sheet. This season with the class of Will Harries, Jason Worrall and Chris Elder, all boys who have played many games at 15, I've no doubt Kieran will raise his game again and not hand over the 15 jersey without a fight!"

Kieran commented, "I've been at Chinnor for a longtime now and I'm determined to get my 100 cap. I'm excited to be part of this crazy squad and to see what we can achieve by pushing each other! This is a team where there will always be someone biting at your heals ready for their chance!"

Matt added, "To have two of our most senior boys within touching distance of 100 games adds to a special season. I know they will both play a big part in the success of the season both on and off the field."
